BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Production version in 2013

Auto Bild reports that BMW has decided to roll out the first series version of the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept in early 2013. It will be manufactured under the Project I at the BMW Leipzig plant from 2013 to 2018, limited to around 6,000 to 18,000 units. Pricing is rumored to be at 125,000 to 175,000 Euros. AutoBild further speculates that the Vision Concept will be relabeled as BMW i100 or i1.

The production vehicle will be exactly like the concept car. This sporty 2 +2 seater will be made with a lot of carbon fiber. The crash structures at the front and rear suspension will be made from aluminum. The production vehicle is expected to be very lightweight and sustainable – living up to the Project I philosophy.

It will be using a turbocharged three-cylinder internal combustion engine delivering 184 horsepower helped by two electric motors each delivering 95 horsepower. Power will be distributed to all four wheels. The car will accelerate to 62 mph in about 4 seconds. It will be highly fuel efficient at just 4.0 liters per 100 kilometers.

Autobild also says that the M Division is considering an M-variant of this car with a more powerful engine delivering 450 horsepower.
