BMW will offer LCD gauges for refreshed BMW 5 and 7 Series models

A report by Autoblog states that a fully configurable LCD gauge cluster will be offered for the facelifted BMW 5 and 7 Series models.  The technology is currently being developed at thye BMW Technology Office in Palo Alto, CA, but the Munich development team is also helping out.

This new technology will serve as a gauge cluster that displays the standard dials for speed, revs, fuel and temp. The user can also configure it to show additional navigation, telematics and infotainment data depending on the driving mode and according to what the driver needs.

The next-generation BMW 7 Series will be launched on 2013, and the F10 5 Series will be released in 2014.
