BMW X1 M performance SUV being considered?

BMW has denied a possible BMW X1 M or M Performance Automobile but recent rumors published by CarAdvice citing BMW M performance arm sales boss, Jörg Bartels, says that the performance division is constantly looking across the model range and might have given a hint for an X1 M.

“I will say again what the boss of BMW M has stated in the past – all BMWs are eligible for an M model,” he said. “We will see how Audi and Mercedes go with that,” Bartels said of the launch of the compact performance SUV.

It is not confirmed if Bartels made a reference to a full-M X1 model or an X1 M Performance Automobile that could compete directly with the Audi RS Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG.

For now, do take this with a grain of salt.
