BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupe Milestone: 100,000 Units Sold Worldwide

BMW announced that the BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupe has just sold 100,000 units worldwide — definitely a milestone for the vehicle. It was made to break the stereotype of a usual BMW car back in 2008 by combining the characteristic of a Sports Utility Vehicle and a Coupe. It features the best of both worlds: high ground clearance, all wheel drive and all-weather ability, large wheels and tires, bold styling, dramatic sloping roof and dynamic lines.

Even through much criticism with what BMW was trying to achieve with this car, it has proven to become a global success for the past two years. In Germany, BMW’s best selling version is the xDrive30d.

To follow up the success of the BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupe, BMW released the X6M in 2009 — the first M all-wheel drive vehicle by BMW. To increase the options for sustainability and efficiency, BMW has also launched the X6 ActiveHybrid.

The first scheduled facelift of the BMW X6 will be done in 2011.
