BMWNA and Bridgestone settle Suit

BMW North America and Bridgestone Americas agreed to pay back the owners and lessees of some 2006 and 2007 BMW 3-series models upon court order. This was a result of BMW 3 Series owners bought between 2006 and 2007 had filed a lawsuit after they had to replace Bridgestone run-flat tires that were factory-supplied, because of premature wear.

The 3 Series owners were convinced that BMW and Bridgestone should have known that these tires were defective in the first place, before selling them and causing the owners to replace these tires using money from their own pockets.  No matter what the cause of this problem was, BMW and Bridgestone are both willing to correct the damage.

This class-action lawsuit filed back in 2008 now comes to a close. There were 262,670 BMW 3-series models sold in the United States in 2006 and 2007 alone, but not everybody is expected to file for reimbursement. According to Bridgestone, there will most likely be just 125,000 owners that need to be paid. This will still cost both BMW and Bridgestone a huge amount of money though.
