BMW Labs Helps You Control Your House from Your Car

In order to stay up to date with the latest services and features development, BMW has created a platform called BMW Labs.

For now, the platform is still in the testing stage and the users are testing it before the final release. The testing data will help BMW offer desired services and create a high quality product.

The service used as a starting point is IFTTT (If This Then That). It’s a useful online tool that ebables the automation between various products on the internet.

For the BMW owners, this can come as very handy. They could use IFTTT to switch the outside lights automatically as they approach home, or to open the garage door, turn on the air contitioning or heating, etc.

Unfortunately, not all the BMW drivers can enjoy this widget. It’s currently available for models that feature Professional Navigation system between 07-2013 and 10-2015, and doesn’t include the previous generation X1, X6, nor the current Z4 and 7 Series.

The lucky ones that have the right car can sign-up for trial service at: ifttt.com/bmwlabs
