The controversial and famous ex-BMW designer Chris Bangle is venturing into a new area of interest that he offers to the public. This time, instead of just designing cars, he writes a fictional novel entitled Peter Teufel, A Tale of Car Design in 3 Parts. Yeah, its still about car design. And, Bangle also has something more to offer to his readers.
Aside from Teufel character’s story, the prologue of the book contains descriptions of six different kinds of vehicles, and Bangle wants readers to draw those concepts and submit them as a part of a contest that he is holding. The grand prize winner will receive a trip to the studios of Chris Bangle Associates (CBA) in Italy or €2,000. Ten other winners will have their designs showcased on the CBA site and published in the second edition of the book.
Whether this is a marketing plot to get more readers or an actual encouragement for people to design cars, it is rather interesting. The contest is open to all design students of all disciplines. No professionals are allowed to join. The mechanics of the contest can be downloaded for free on this link.
