BimmerToday reports that BMW will begin to offer the new BMW 5 Series Sedan and Touring with the unique Frozen Grey and Frozen Black matte finish starting March 2011.
The two matte shades were reserved exclusively for BMW M vehicles so far. But as an answer to popular demand, BMW has changed their policy to allow the production of non-M vehicles with these matte colors. The frozen gray and frozen black will only be available with the M Sport Package for 3,300 euros, on top of the cost of the M Sport Package which needs to be ordered before selecting the color.
Matte colors are expected to be more appealing to private owners rather than fleet customers because of the special care that the paint needs. The matte finish cannot be waxed or polished. Rubbing too hard against the metal could damage the matte finish.
The 5 Series Touring with M Sport Package with matte color will be revealed at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
