As a part of BMW’s efforts to enhance their social media and online marketing, a website dedicated to Project i has gone live. This website, www.project-i.com, is a daring move for BMW as they launch a sub-brand exclusively dedicated to sustainable mobility. Project i focuses on electric vehicles.
There are a lot of useful information on the website itself. It confirmed that Project i started back in 2007 and it has been supported by BMW’s CEO Dr. Norbert Reithofer. Reithofer even said on an interview for Business Week that the Megacity Vehicle is a must-have for BMW.
BMW Chief Designer Adrian Hooydonk also largely supports this sub-brand. He said: “Since we’re BMW, we don’t want to create just any old electric car. We want to deliver what people so far think is impossible: the combination of joy and zero emissions.â€
BMW is determined to make the Megacity vehicle a success. It is focused on the younger market who are technically savvy. It will also specifically be targeted to those who are environmentally conscious. It produces the same excellent performance of a BMW car. The only difference is that it is sustainable and environmentally friendly.
A Twitter Project i account www.twitter.com/bmwprojecti and a Facebook fan page www.facebook.com/BMW.Project.i have also been launched.
