Look: BMW X6 Black Vermilion Edition Now In Australia

BMW unveiled the Black Vermilion Edition over a year ago, but now the carmaker’s Australian branch is hosting the local launch. While the X5 xDrive40i is available in the US market, people Down Under can buy the sleek X6 in the more powerful M50i trim. Interested parties should hurry, however, as only five vehicles will be available.

With its Individual Frozen Black paint and dark grey 22-inch alloy wheels, the Black Vermilion Edition looks sadder than the standard X6 M50i. The black metallic paint contrasts with red highlights on the lighted grille and brake callipers. BMW has dimmed the headlights and tinted the rear windows to match the vehicle’s evening look.

BMW Australia outfits the limited edition SUV cabin with red stitching to match the exterior’s black leather finish. In addition to heated seats and a panoramic glass roof, the Black Vermilion Edition includes velour floor mats and crystal accents. Anthracite Alcantara headlining and a logo on the centre console cover indicate that this is not your average X6 M50i model.

The twin-turbo V8 engine hasn’t changed in any way mechanically. With a top speed of 170 km/h (113 miles per hour), it can accelerate from rest to 100 km/h (62 miles per hour) in just over four seconds. When the X6 LCI is launched in 2023, BMW will phase out the M50i version and replace it with the M60i, powered by the new S68 mild-hybrid engine we have already seen in the facelifted X7 M60i.
