The new BMW M2 will almost certainly hit the market in the next few months, but not before Manhart releases another modification for the F87. It’s based on the hot Competition model, which the German tuner has pimped even further to wring every last drop of performance out of it. The MH2 630 is more than just a remapping ECU and some visual modifications; it is the complete package.
As the name implies, the performance coupé now has 630 hp, which is 220 hp more than the M2C. To keep up with the M8 Competition, the M2’s torque has also been significantly increased to 750 Nm (551 lb-ft). Manhart has fitted a bespoke turbocharger and CSF intercooler for extra power.
The upgraded S55 engine breathes through a stainless steel exhaust system with quad tailpipes made of carbon fibre. However, Manhart used the front brakes from the M4 GT4, which feature six-piston callipers enclosing 380mm discs. Nothing was changed on the rear brakes, but 19-inch alloy wheels were fitted to both axles. These are fitted with Michelin tyres measuring 265/35 at the front and 295/30 at the rear.
A three-way KM coilover suspension and aerodynamic features from the M Performance catalogue are other important changes. The front spoiler, side skirt attachments and rear diffuser are made of carbon fibre. Manhart replaced the hood with a custom aluminium panel and used the rear wing from the M235i Racing. The car is finished in the tuner’s characteristic black and gold paint.
Inside is a full race car roll cage and the rear seat has been removed to reduce weight. Manhart’s F87 has Recaro bucket seats with harnesses, lots of carbon fibre and an extra screen mounted where the centre left vent would normally be.
