Under the hood, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe sports an N54 twin-turbo engine which is capable of 340 horsepower, matted to a six-speed manual. With the recent test drive of the BMW M1 prototype, automobile journalists discovered that though its looks similar to the 135i Coupe model, it is no where near it. The suspension springs are stiffer, dampers have less travel, the trailing arm blushings are joint balls, and the suspension cannot be adjusted in relation to keeping the costs down. The BMW M1’s body is lowered by 10 mm. The track is around 30 mm wider up front and between 30 to 40 mm wider at the rear. It also used M Compound brakes.
The rumored selling price is around $45,000.
