Rumors of a BMW van-like vehicle have been around for a few months already. Many were surprised about this rumor and simply shrugged it off as a weird idea. But the latest report on Auto Motor Und Sport, a well respected German magazine, points out that BMW is indeed considering a van-like vehicle. Their latest published edition features a rendering of what they label as “BMW Vanâ€. Coincidentally, some of the design lines seen in the rendering match with the latest report by BMW insider Scott27.
Rumors refer to this vehicle as the BMW Advanced Family Sports Activity Tourer. It is a mix of a multi-purpose vehicle and a sports activity vehicle. BMW will reinterpret the concept of a van to be more car-like, but without compromising space, flexibility and driving dynamics. The AFAST vehicle is said to be the reincarnation of BMW’s RFK project that developed into the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo. The car would be built on the new 3 Series platform and will have a ear-wheel drive architecture. The car will feature a flexible interior design with sufficient cargo space.
