z3m-001-LThe 2000 BMW Z3 M Roadster – LS1 is owned by Jason McCall and hand built by the owner together with Vorshlag. Here is a description of the process of making the vehicle from their words:

Starting with a rolling chassis with low miles and a missing (blown) engine and transmission was resurrected with an all aluminum 5.7L LS1 engine and a Borg Warner T-56 s-speed manual. This is a car built using a Vorshlag BMW LS1 swap kit plus lots of other bits and pieces.

The bulk of the installation was performed at the owner’s house (Jason McCall) with friends’ help, including Vorshlag owner Terry Fair. He even went so far as to re-wire his garage to install a compressor and welder, which he used to repair some things on the chassis before the LS1 engine went in. Most of the car was re-wired, due to a mangled harness from the previous owner.

The exhaust was custom built by Vorshlag and we also installed the AST 4100 suspension with our camber plates. The giant 18×10.5F/18x11R CCW wheels were installed by a previous owner, but most of the res of their work and parts has been removed/replaced.

The final weight on the car is 2450 pounds and with 400 hp on tap it is as fun as you can imagine.
