PPSL Corporate Responsibility Event at Melrose Home

Performance Premium Selection Limited (PPSL), a subsidiary of Performance Motors Limited and a member of the Sime Darby Group, held a corporate social responsibility event last Wednesday, 14^th March 2012. The event was held at the Melrose Home Children’s Aid Society orphanage.

Melrose Home was perfect for PPSL’s commitment to social responsibility because the organization provides a supportive environment for children between the ages of 4 to 18 years old. These children are given a residential setting in the absence of parents or family members who are able to give them care or supervision.

The programme began with an interactive ice breaker for the children and PPSL staff to get to know each other by name. The children were a bit shy at first; hence the PPSL team had to take the initiative to goof around with the children to make them feel more comfortable. After settling the children down, the cup cake decorating session began. Both girls and boys were keen to participate in the activity. Everyone filled their empty cup cakes with multi-coloured icing and butterfly and heart-shaped decorative. Decorating the cupcakes was fun and gave the children a sense of accomplishment but seeing the final product and eating the cupcakes became the highlight of the activity.

The first part of the programme ended smoothly. The children became comfortable with the presence of the PPSL team. After a short break, the second part of the programme commenced with two “telly-match” like contests.

At the end the day, PPSL drove a BMW 325i Cabriolet to Melrose Home for all the children to take photos with, just before the prize presentation ceremony.

The presence of PPSL’s dedicated staff was instrumental in making this event a success. The team felt joy in working with the children especially during the activities. The corporate social responsibility event gave PPSL staff a unique chance to interact with the less fortunate children to realize that they’re not that different from the kids they see every day. Overall, it was a very fulfilling experience for the staff of PPSL.

Everyone was a winner during this corporate social responsibility event. The children had fun and won prizes, while the PPSL team learnt valuable lessons about patience and resilience.
