Real Life Photos – BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept

BMW surprisingly displayed the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept at BMW of San Francisco. Sources say that BMW’s Director of Design Adrian Von Hooydonk was there himself.

Since its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year, the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept remains to be exciting. It is a two-door fully hybrid car which is capable of 62 mph in only 4.8 seconds (as fast as the Porsche 911), but uses lesser fuel than that of Toyota’s Prius.

The 3-cylinder turbodiesel engine has a rear/mid-mounted placement with the second electric motor placed between the turbodiesel engine and the 6-Speed DCT gearbox. The 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbodiesel engine is capable of 163 hp and 214 lb-ft. of torque. The rear-mounted electric motor can produce 33 hp and maximum torque of 214 lb-ft. The electric motor at the front axle consistently gives 80 hp.

The BMW Vision EfficientDynamics also has an interesting exterior design with it’s bird wings doors. Rumors say that this concept is the beginning of a future eco-racing car that will be introduced in 2013.
