Rumored eco-sports car in 2013: the BMW i100 Coupe Active Hybrid

Rumor has it that a new BMW model dubbed as the BMW i100 Coupe ActiveHybrid is being developed by BMW. This will be an eco-friendly sports car most likely to be launched in 2013 — a direct competitor of Audi’s E-Tron and Mercedes’ SLS E-Cell.

The design of the i100 is rumored to be a plug-in hybrid capable of driving up to four passengers, 15 to 50 kilometers on electric motor. According to Auto Bild, it will have a three-cylinder direct injection diesel engine producing 165 to 185hp similar to the one that is used for the Vision Concept.  Two electric motors on the drivetrain will add extra 100 hp to the i100. This vehicle is rumored to sell at 100,000 euros per unit.

The BMW i100 is most likely to be launched at the IAA Frankfurt Auto Show in 2011.

Another rumored vehicle is the BMW M100 model. It is an M version of the i100 with a six-cylinder engine coming from the next generation M3 and super capacitors hybrid.
