The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rates each car as good, acceptable, marginal or poor, depending upon their crashworthiness of passenger vehicles. This is done so as to gauge the safety of the vehicle on the highway and the impact it leaves on the car and the driver after a crash. The test is conducted at the speed of 40 mph. The MINI Cooper was rated good for its crash worthiness and declared to be a safe vehicle for its class.Â
Â
Another evidence of the 2007 cooper being strong and safe is the 5 star rating it received from Euro New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP). The Programme deals with a realistic and independent assessment of the safety performance of different vehicles in Europe. After the crash test from different directions of the Cooper, the car was passed as “safe†for public use on the highway.
Â
The company believes that both, NCAP and the IIHS are substantial reasons for a safe occupant drive and why one must opt for a MINI Cooper than any other in its class. These test outcomes also indicate that small cars can be designed to be the safest for the company and the passenger(s). Bmw, and the MINI USA vice president, Jim McDowell are elated with the Cooper and its safety technology offered with the car on purchase.
