Sixt Rentals Purchases 100,000 BMW vehicles

Sixt Rental, a leading car rental company in Germany, signed an agreement to purchase 100,000 cars from BMW in line with their plans of expanding their presence in Africa and Asia. All of these vehicles will be sold to Sixt fleet by 2015. This agreement also includes the 7 Series fleet, the X family, and even a number of MINI vehicles all of which must be equipped with the ConnectedDrive system. A special application called BMW Sixt Mobile Key will be developed for these models. This technology allows the Sixt customer to reserve their Sixt BMW vehicle by phone.

Sixt’s CEO Erich Sixt said: “The successful partnership between BMW and Sixt links premium vehicles with premium service. The agreement with BMW is a key component of our fleet planning in the coming years.”

The overall amount of this agreement has not been disclosed, but with the number of vehicles that Sixt will be purchasing, this will sure generate a lot of revenue for BMW until 2015.
