The BMW 5 Series Hybrid Concept was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. It is the first 5 Series hybrid vehicle that will officially be sold in 2011 at BMW dealerships. Just before it becomes available in the market, MotorAutority managed to take some photos of a production ready test mule being driven around Munich.
This vehicle features a drive system consisting of a 3.0 liter straight-six N55 gasoline engine with TwinPower Turbo technology, eight-speed automatic transmission, and electric drive. Both fuel consumption and carbon emissions are reduced by more than 10%. The Auto Start Stop function adds more efficiency to the vehicle. No pricing has been announced yet.
