Spy Photo – 2014 F80 BMW M3 test mule refueled with E85 ethanol

A photograph of the 2014 F80 BMW M3 was taken while it was being filled with the wrong fuel. The car was field testing in Gothenburg when the driver erroneously grabbed the E85 ethanol pump with blue handle to fill up the super-sporty sedan. This fuel is made up of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, which is not recommended by BMW. The right pump was the green one, for the 95 unleaded fuel. This may also be a part of the testing process, and not an error. At launch, the car will be powered by a 3.2 liter inline-six engine matted to a double-clutch transmission 7-speed transmission delivering 450 horsepower.
