The BMW M6 GT3 for IGTC finale at Kyalami, South Africa

This weekend, the 2020 Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) will end in South Africa with the 9-hour Kyalami race. Thanks to Walkenhorst Motorsport and the BMW M6 GT3, BMW will be well represented at the event. On Saturday, 12 December, the race will take place and could bring yet another victory to the M6 GT3. It is a car that had its element on this particular track on previous occasions.

Two BMW M6 GT3 cars and a strong rider line-up will compete in Walkenhorst Motorsport. Augusto Farfus, Nick Catsburg, and Sheldon van der Linde will take wheel #34. The BMW M6 GT3 with car number 35 will be competing in conjunction with David Pittard with Nick Yelloly and Martin Tomczyk.

Kyalami is the fourth final event of the 2020 IGTC season after the ‘Bathurst 12 Hour,’ the ‘Indianapolis 8 Hour,’ and the 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps.

The titles are also scheduled for this weekend. Porsche is the obvious favorite one of the three top companies competing can still win the manufacturer’s title. The company based in Stuttgart is now leading, but BMW and Audi are likely to steal the final round title. Since the winner in Kyalami is 25 points, it’s still somebody’s game, including BMW, because he has two cars in the competition, and when they finish 1-2, Porsche is all done. The same goes for Audi.

It’s still a long way to go through. The Porsche is definitely bringing its A-game to South Africa with an impressive line-up of drivers behind the wheel. Speaking of which, BMW also has a chance at the Driver’s Title. At the moment, Nick Catsburg and Augusto Farfus are fourth overall with 25 points, next to Bentley’s Jules Gounon/Jordan Pepper/Maxime Soulet with 28 points and two Porsche teams with 30 and 31 points, respectively. The race starts at 12.00 p.m. Local time on Saturdays.
