41% of all the luxury vehicles sold in the U.S. this year were bought by women. Last year it was 37%, so it’s becoming clear that women are not as practical car shoppers as they once used to be.
In the past, women were often choosing SUVs and minivans for their daily needs, but the percent of female luxury SUV shoppers has tripled over the last 5 years.
The senior analyst at Edmunds, Jessica Caldwell, says that “the idea of the luxury vehicle has changed and now performance is just one corner of the market”.
One of the reasons for this increase is also the decrease in salary gap between man and women. In 2000, 30% of the women were earning more than their husbands (U.S.), and the percentage rose to 38 today.
