The MINI Vision Urbanaut is set to launch this week at the DLD Summer conference in Munich. What began as a rendering has now become a reality. MINI’s futuristic design strives to reimagine mobility through a modernistic vision of space.
Providing the finest possible stage and spatial context for the onboard experience, the appearance and interior of the Urbanaut alter to reflect the current MINI moment.
The Duality in one car
The structural design reflects the vehicle’s transition through various phases such as “Chill,” “Wanderlust,” and “Vibe”. The Chill moment encourages you to chill out a bit and take a break from your hectic schedule. The Cosy Corner is a rear seat bench that can be modified to various seating and lying positions.
The backlit Loop at the top takes on the appearance of a green forest canopy and may also be dimmed. The round device, which folds down to become a table lamp without any displays or switches, maintains the progression.
The Wanderlust arrangement is all about self-driving, which is reflected in the interior. When the passenger wishes to drive themselves, he or she simply taps the MINI emblem and the steering wheel and pedals appear.
Furthermore, the user interface on the centre circular instrument modifies its aesthetics. In addition to an animation of the route, additional journey information is presented for people on board.
Sustainability
The interior of MINI Vision Urbanaut is made up mostly of recycled materials and is almost entirely renewable and recyclable. Textiles created from recycled materials (such as wool, polyester, and Tencel) are the dominating material in the interior, combining cosiness, quality, and softness and comfort.
