Three Teams and Six BMW M3s will race this 2012 DTM Season

BMW will participate in DTM racing with the BMW M3 DTM. BMW has announced the three teams which will be racing two BMW M3 vehicles each into the 2012 DTM season.

BMW Motorsport will not have their own team this time. Instead, they will be partnering with BMW Team RBM, BMW Team Schnitzer and Reinhold Motorsport GmbH. BMW Motorsport has worked with the RBM and Schnitzer teams in the past. Reinhold Motorsport is a newcomer that BMW has also welcomed to be a part of the team.

In a recent press release, BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen said:

In recent months we have worked very intensely on the DTM project…The concepts presented by BMW Team RBM, BMW Team Schnitzer and Reinhold Motorsport GmbH ultimately convinced us. This is an excellent team line-up for BMW…We are looking forward to cooperating over the coming years – and hope to enjoy great success together.

The six M3 vehicles that will be used for the 2012 DTM season is still being prepared. This year, BMW Team Schnitzer will race two BMW M3 GT cars at several major endurance races in Asia and Europe.
