BMW fans have high hopes for the upcoming BMW G30-generation 5 Series and it is expected to be better than its predecessor. It now built on BMW’s new CLAR (Cluster Architecture) modular platform, and is expected to be a lot lighter, more dynamic, and stiffer than its older brother. Top Gear reviews the new BMW G30 5 Series to know how it does on the road.
This review shows two variants of the new 5 Series: the 530d xDrive and 540i sDrive. Top Gear says that the 530d xDrive is luxurious and calm to drive. Thanks to its traditional suspension setup, 18″ wheels and all-wheel drive. It takes after the 7 Series in terms of the feeling that it gives to the driver.
The BMW 540i on the other hand was rear-wheel drive, had adaptive suspension and four-wheel steering, which makes it a lot more enjoyable to drive. It is dynamic, has a sharper steering, and better handling.
Overall, Top Gear says that this is a big improvement compared to the previous generation.
