Two Wins and a Podium at the 2016 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy

More than 70 participants from different countries of the world have signed up for the 2016 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy and the first standings are in. The BMW S 1000 RR did very well in multiple championships. So far, a total of two wins and a podium was earned from the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup (STK1000) and the FIM CEV Superbike European Championship (CEV).

The BMW Motorrad Race Trophy proved its world wide reputation once again. All 74 BMW racers who registered come from different countries all over the world and it is amazing to have this kind of roster. A total of 37 teams will be competing in the multiple championship classes. The registration will be open until June 30, 2016 so BMW Motorrad is expecting more signups to come in before the registration closes.

The frontrunners of the 2016 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy is Dominik Vincon (DE) and Stefan Kerschbaumer (AT). They are co-drivers of the Völpker NRT48 by Schubert Motors BMW S 1000 RR. They participated in the Superstock class of the FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC STK) and was able to get 100.95 points respectively. Raffaele De Rosa (IT / STK1000) is currently in third place with 76.22 points.

The 2016 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) just finished the fourth round at the famous TT Circuit in Assen (NL). The weAther was very challenging for those racing on the track. They had to endure harsh sun, rain, and hail all throughout the race. The fate of Jordi Torres (ES) of Althea BMW Racing Team was different. There was good weather and dry track so he was able to finish in fifth place.

This year, the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy has 28 class divisions in the 21 international and national championships. Participants are not prohibited to join more than 1 championships. Stay tuned for more updates, wins and podiums for this season.
