BMW has produced the IconicSounds Electric with award-winning composer Hans Zimmer to make driving an electric car even more emotional. BMW brought the iX M60 M Performance Electric SUV to CES 2022 to showcase the sound package. In this video we explore the performance of the iX and the audio composition by Hans Zimmer.
The BMW IconicSounds Electric may switch from a luxurious sound to an exhilarating one depending on which mode you choose when connected to My Modes, which also changes the ambient lighting and screen settings. The BMW i4 and iX will have this new audio technology in 2022; the i4 in the first half of the year and the iX in the second half. For example, the BMW IconicSounds Electric delivers a softer, more relaxing sound when the car is in Comfort My Mode (in the iX it is called “Personal”). The sound of the electric motors in Sport mode is intended to express their reaction.
Finally, Efficient My Mode has no IconicSounds to remind the driver of the silent efficiency of the electric drive. Regardless of My Mode, the driver can deactivate the IconicSounds completely. The BMW i4 and iX now feature two new My Modes: Expressive and Relax, each with its own IconicSounds.
The former uses higher-pitched tones, such as violins, to create a more abstract effect. This cacophony is accompanied by the neon lighting of both the curved screen and the environment. The result is a change of mood in the cabin that is unique to the two BMW electric cars. Its Relax mode offers softer sounds and lighting to create a calming environment to help relieve tension.
