[Video] The BMW M3 GTS drift by the Stig

The BMW M3 GTS is and always has been a rare bird. For most hardcore enthusiasts out there, the limited M3 edition was intended from the get-go to deliver the best driving experience.

The Stig is known to be an extremely skillful racer. Its expertise behind the wheel is widely recognized. Over the years has become legendary. It is also famous as one of the sharpest cars to be produced at the M division headquarters for its tracking capabilities.

This would therefore seem to be a match made in heaven and to a certain degree. The Top gear was wrong in choosing the track. All we see is a lot of smoke and drifts in this video. Driving is fun, don’t get me wrong. But I don’t think I want to see the Stig pushing out every success from this special M car day on the unusual tracks.

Engine

The M3 GTS has been developed from the beginning to have more power and less weight than the normal model. It takes up to a total of 4.4 liters to a stroked S65 4-liter V8 engine. The power output also rose to 450hp, but it could unfortunately only be obtained with the DCT 7-speed gearbox.

The cog-swapper has certainly been upgraded, but there is still no participation that can offer manual gearboxes. Only 150 of them were ever made, so we should all be glad to see one in action. Private owners handled the 150 units of the M3 GTS, and racing companies were successful in some European competitions.

Like the new BMW M4 GTS, the M3 GTS has established the BMW M course for a long-range of special models based on the E92 M3 athlete. The BMW launched the GTS special in 2009 and sold the following year. Despite certain technical differences, both the M3 GTS and the M4 GTS share a radical approach to what should be a street-legal race car. And both offer excellent track performance.
