[Video] Which Luxury Sedan Stops Shortest?

When it comes to luxurious automobiles, many would often opt for full-size sedans, rarely seen on the drag strip. However, Carwow recently organized a thrilling competition involving the BMW 7 Series, Audi A8, and Mercedes S-Class. What sets these flagship models apart is their plug-in hybrid powertrains, each boasting a six-cylinder gasoline engine.

Leading the pack is the BMW M760e, the most powerful but also the heaviest of the trio. It combines a 571 hp and 800 Nm hybrid system with an all-wheel-drive setup, bringing the weight to a substantial 2,525 kilograms.

Audi’s contender is the 60 TFSIe, a long-wheelbase A8 that’s notably lighter at 2,340 kilograms. Its hybrid system, combining a 3.0-liter V6 turbo and an e-motor, produces 462 hp and 700 Nm of torque. Mercedes introduces the S580e, an elongated variant with rear-wheel drive. Equipped with an inline-six engine and electric motor, it delivers 510 hp and 750 Nm. Weighing in at 2,435 kilograms, it combines power and elegance.

The action begins with an electric-only drag race, where the S-Class surprisingly takes the lead. In traditional drag races with internal combustion engines, the BMW 7 Series showcases its M Performance prowess. Rolling races from 50 mph to the half-mile see both Mercedes and BMW securing wins. In the braking test from 100 mph, the S-Class emerges as the quickest to come to a halt, proving its superior stopping performance.
