Wiesmann MF5 with BMW V10 engine production comes to an end

Wiesmann revealed the MF5 Roadster back in 2009 at the Frankfurt Auto Show. It was powered by the BMW M5 engine: the 5.0 liter V10 powerplant which is capable of 500 hp. The 1,395 kg MF Roadster runs from 0 to 62 mph in an impressive 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 193 mph with the naturally aspirated V10 engine. This vehicle has also been using BMW’s 7-Speed SMG sequential gearbox with paddle shifters.

Yesterday, Wiesmann had just announced that the production of the MF5 Roadster with the BMW V10 engine has come to an end. They have not yet announced what engine they will be using instead for the next MF5 Roadsters. Wiesmann assured that they will still be using a BMW made engine, but they are still ongoing discussions which one they will be picking.

Most likely, the V8 twin-turbo engine will take over with the new ZF 8-speed gearbox, given that it provides adequate power to BMW models such as the 550i, X5 or X6 50i.
The selling price of the Wiesmann Roadster MF5 is at US$275,000.
