BMW and Daimler slated to announce joint urban mobility venture soon

Autocar reports that BMW and Daimler are slated to announce their joint urban mobility venture in the next week. This comes after being granted approval by the European Union in January. The joint venture will be called Jurbey, and will replace the car companies’ current Car2Go and DriveNow short-term rental services.

The European Commission already gave the go signal for this merger back in November 2018. Since then, the companies have been hard at work to integrate both previous services into one single app. BMW and Daimler will put together their DriveNow, Car2Go, Clever taxi, ParkNow, ChargeNow and ReachNow divisions among others, together in a simple platform that’s easier to use for the consumers. This very comprehensive collection of mobility services will be headquartered in Berlin, which serves as a neutral for the companies, whose headquarters are in Munich and Stuttgart respectively. An office is currently being prepared for the operations that will support the program. There will be around 500 jobs in this new location.

The actual look of the app is still under the curtains, but we expect nothing less from these two car companies. The app is expected to be operational starting February 22 in Europe.
