[Video] The S70/2 V12 by Paul Rosche

The legendary Paul Rosche, one of the best engine engineers in the world, passed away this year. Though Rosche was known for his work with BMW engines, his greatest work cannot be found under a BMW car’s hood because it powered a McLaren F1. The S70/2 naturally-aspirated V12 engine was specifically built for Ron Dennis and his McLaren F1. Because of its brilliant engineering and performance, it is possibly the single greatest engine in the automobile history. Check it out on this video:

The video showed the garage of Jay Leno, an American celebrity. He is one of the few owners who has a McLaren F1 is Jay Leno. Though the audio is not very good, it still showed the great work that Rosche did.

It looks amazing because it was developed with a high standard in mind, but it was not costly. In fact, the special exhaust system for the car that BMW developed was more expensive than the actual engine. Jay Leno’s McLaren is also pushed hard and driven on a regular basis. It doesn’t just stay in the garage. Even if that’s the case, the engine is solid and clean and in good condition. Now that’s a masterpiece of an engine!
