BMW’s 50-Year Celebration: ALPINA B3 Exclusive Edition

In 2023, BMW Group South Africa marked a monumental achievement – 50 years of its Rosslyn plant, the first outside Germany. A whopping R4.2 billion investment was announced, fueling the production of the next-gen BMW X3 plug-in hybrid, set to roll out in late 2024.

South Africa gets the exclusive ALPINA Green II metallic paint finish, drawing inspiration from the historic mid-1980s collaboration. It also flaunts features like ALPINA CLASSIC 20-inch forged wheels.

Full leather Merino Black seats boast the embroidered BMW Group South Africa 50 Years anniversary logo. Each unit is labeled as one of five “50 Years an Icon, BMW South Africa” cars. It also comes with ALPINA door sills and a special SWITCH-TRONIC sport leather steering wheel.

Beneath the hood, the BMW ALPINA B3 AWD packs a punch with its 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder inline engine. Two ALPINA-specific mono-scroll turbochargers pump out 488 hp and a peak torque of 730 Nm. The eight-speed Sport-Automatic transmission launches the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 305 km/h.

ALPINA adds a high-performance sport chassis and exhaust system. The brake system has special heat-resistant brake pads and drilled disc brakes. It complements the sport suspension with variable damper control and four driving modes. All five exclusive BMW ALPINA B3 50 Years of BMW South Africa units are already claimed, eagerly awaiting their handover in December 2023.
