Hi WYC86, can't comment on the tok sound when moving off. If it's rust related, not much can be done in our climate. But i was curious about the 80-90kmh experience. I've had this on my 3er as well, but have usually just put it down to the 8 speed switching to top gear as quickly as possible...

Have a friend with a 5-er who had wet footwells and it was also the LHD steeering axle hole grommet. it was worn out and letting water in. Not sure if it will lead to all 4 footwells being wet, but worth checking.
