'06 E60 - engine dying at low speed

I read some 3series drivers experienced this on the othe thread....wonder any 5 series drivers also got this? Happened to me twice in the last 2 weeks...always at low speed, car suddenly stalled. Need to engage P and start car...I recently just did my servicing so wonder if engine oil plays a part?

Re: '06 E60 - engine dying at low speed

Im having the same problem with my E60 too. It happened once when I went for car servicing at one of recommended workshops here and they washed my car. It stalled few times, but after few days the problem was gone. Now problem came back when I sent to the Shell car wash. Defintely its bec of water entering to the engine or electrical parts area.

Really, thought it should be well sealed against water ingress. I went for a diagnostics and there were no errors.

one guy with an e60 said stick a tube into your intake and the car will fly.......

If thats true, every car should have a tube stuck into the air intake....haha

Did he say if the size of the tube matter?

Did u check or change your spark plugs in the recent servicing? Some ws dont even check that for you, they just drain and then pour oil into engine.

Check the following to address the issues....hopefully its one of the following only.

(1) Spark Plugs ( All spark plugs must be in good working condition )
(2) Ignition Coils
(3) Intake Solenoid
(4) Throttle body

Re: '06 E60 - engine dying at low speed

Just saw from other thread that maybe issues with MAF sensor....may ask my WS to check it out

Re: '06 E60 - engine dying at low speed

went to a workshop to check my E60. Suspect that could be during a jet spray car wash, water got suck into the air filter through the air scoop which causes the stall. Anyways the problem was gone after 1.5 weeks. Again maybe could also be the MAF sensor as mentioned by Dankoo.

How to open throttle in a car wash ? Without the vacuum a bit tough for the water to go all the way .....
