1000 km Servicing of 118i

I was at MA yesterday to check on my clonking sound issue. I have a word with the service advisor and was recommended to send in my car for 1st 1000 km servicing.

Anyone has done that and is it really necessary?

MA will recommend but PML will say no need to waste money. It all depends how anal you are for your car. For me, first service will be 10k..

Yes, really no need.
Car gets smoother as the miles piles up.

However, there's nothing that says cannot.

Conti cars have their engine oils changed after running in at the factory. That's why they say you can whacked your car from Day 1

i change at 2000
but not at MA.

Apparently....

M cars need that 1000km servicing to change engine oil and differential oil.

normal BMW cars dun need...

thats what I learnt after speaking to a BMW Asia senior exec recently

however, at 1000km, the oils will have a lot of impurities as everything is new and needs seasoning.

however, no harm getting servicing done for peace of mind and smoother running engine.

As for me, I think it is good changing the engine oil (only that) at 2000km...

but it is just a recommendation, it is optional and up to one preference....
