I think should be OBD2.

OBD2 connector but if you want BMW specific stuff it uses K-CAN. Newer LCI E90 uses D-CAN if I am not wrong (don't take my words for it, pls do your research).

if buy wrong cable can just connect/disconnect pin 8 of the OBD connector.
