hi all,

just got my 2008 X5. but got this active steering light on. may i know if anyone solved this issue before?

seems like quite expensive...

Is it intermittent or permanent?

If intermittent, it's likely not the active steering itself but some sensor (still not cheap to fix, but cheaper!).
Best to contact one of the sponsors in the workshop section for a check and estimate.

hi

thanks for the reply... the active steering light is on permanently and I had bring to workshop on this... the fault code shows:

eco valve. but my steering is ok... no symtoms of active steering is down. so now tryuing to figure out what is wrong. today another fault code was surface...

transfer case high temperature. anyone encounter this before?

About $1500 to fix it. I got similar quotes from 2 specialist workshops so it's about there.
They replaced the actuator, which is not cheap. But if there are no complications, it's a 2hr job to fix, although you should plan on leaving the car with them for at least half a day.

hi bro...my other workshop did an oil change for me at the 4X4... he say to see how 1st. if really still same den will go into details... as i just got the car for a few days so he said no spend so much 1st...

anyway..just an update...some workshop uses underhand means to earn more money... the active steering light was finally solved. W/s tried to change the steering gear pump, the steering rack... the eco valve.... all still the same fault code was still visible. so tot might be the ECU issue, therefore once open, found that the wires were tampered before. there for a re-do of the wiring and also resoldering...solve the active-steering light issue... i called my dealer... as the dealer now claims that they didnt know such issue.... think got no chioce liao....will proceed to CASE....


but driving it for the last few days....its really a good drive...only hate when its red-light....cos quite a slow pick-up.... however will try pedalbox later....my friend told me will help abit...

Bro, you now driving X5, a people mover, so got to give up the pick up speed.
But the best thing is you now can go over bumpy roads without needing to slow down.

Hi seniors, my car just shown this error code just wonder any seniors encounter before :9c26 third row seat heater. But workshop open up but can't find the item spoilt... Anyone to suggest?

Hi there I just took delivery of a 2008 X5 myself. So far so good but have only had it for a day.

I've got to say pretty good handling for an SUV. Or SAV as BMW wants to call it.

I've got to say pretty good handling for an SUV. Or SAV as BMW wants to call it.

Hi Guys (and Girls?)

In my previous rides (Audi A5 and before that the VW GLI) I had tuned the car's ECU (amongst other things).

Is there any place/ shop you would recommend to have this done? And which tuning brand is best?

Or is this to be avoided, in case it messes with the electronics? As I heard Beemers were pretty complicated on the electronics side of things.

Hi Mahakali - yup definitely a great car. Both our cars only have 3 years on the clock and although it's still early days, i may very well look to getting another X5 once the 10 years are up. I prefer the aesthetic look of the 2nd generation compared to the latest model though ....

Mine is 2011 so I have about 5.5 years left.

Think the lastest model has a good stereo system and adaptive internal led lights ....quite nice

Check the log card...2008 should be e70 ...how's your fuel intake so far ?

Quick question servicing period for bummers 10,000km like Jap cars or must rely on onboard vehicle info???
