27th April 2014 - The Ascendant Motorsport and ST Powered/Wangan GTR sets the all-time semi-slick roadcar SIC lap record by a few seconds with a 2:17.6

First roadcar into the 2:22s, 21s, 20s, 19s, 18s, 17s.
Only roadcar under 2:20
And will go a few seconds faster in roadcar form, another few in trackcar form, and another few in racecar form.

Thanks mate, but trust me there are teams right now working to go faster. At the same time, we are also working to go faster. It just never ends.. natural competitive spirit is to win. Records always fall.. just a matter of when.

Hi Oily, yes there is video of complete lap but I don't know if I should release it because IMO I see most competitors in class handicapping themselves by driving the wrong line for the type of car, in few critical sectors.

There's absolutely no magic in finding the actual quickest line. It's just some time, thought, energy. But if we've invested those things and have found something closer to optimal, I don't see the point in giving it out especially because in the end we are competitors. If it takes 6 hours, that's 6 hours they should have to spend to find it. I respect them all, and by finding their own way, they will make themselves better drivers and motorsports people in general.

Even if I did release what we've tested and found to be optimal, many of them will still criticize it and theorize why it is wrong/slow, etc. Some with a radically different setup following different macro philosophy might try and copy and find it slower, then start saying "we tested it and it's slow, so the ASC guys don't know what they're doing and are only fast because of power" blahblah. A separate smarter group may adjust setup to do whatever it takes to drive the same line, and in the process may be given an advantage not having known the correct macro philosophy and setup, but to some degree reverse engineering their way to it. Again there is no magic in getting the broad strokes right either.. just some first principle knowledge, reading, discussion, testing. So let them do that and hopefully it'll all converge and may the best team then win.

It's the nature of motorsport, the egos; almost everyone believes they know the most and are the best. So everyone has to find their own way in the end. And if we are competitors and I respect you, then I'll let you find your own way. If there is no competition and it's all just fun trackdays, then absolutely I'll give away anything and everything.

Magnificent effort by Team Silver Surfer with Ascendant Motorsport and ST Powered -- Team Principal - Arthur Lo, Driver and Engineer - Shaun Yip, Powertrain and constructor - ST Powered (Sam, Desmond, Furugawa and all mechs) and ST Wagan (Kenneth and team)

Great to be able to design and create a Roadcar that out performs any roadcar from all major manufacturers across Track, B-Road and Utility (still able to sit 4 and carry 2x set of golf clubs !)

Major milestones accomplished:-

* Silver Surfer at 2:17.6 is the Fastest Roadcar at Sepang to-date

* Trapped 280 kph GPS / 300 kph Speedo at Sepang front straight -- Highest for almost any car outside of F1

* Winningest GTR and GTR team to-date -- Across 2012, 2013 and 2014

- Won 3x Fastest GTR
- Set 3x Fastest Roadcar timings
- Won 2x Fastest Timing of the Day
- First GTR and Roadcar to break into 2:21s and break the 2:20 barrier into 19s, 18s and 17s (first in official competition into 22s, 21s, 20s, 19s, 18s, 17s)
- More #1 positions in 2012, 2013 and 2014 than then next 2-3 teams combined

* All accomplished at a total cost including the car itself, upgrades, wear and tear, maintenance, consumerables (fuel, tires, rotors, pads etc.) and all other costs including non competition related daily running costs of less than half that of the car price only for a typical Supercar entrant in ZTH TTA

Demonstrating the importance of planning, testing, analyses, covering all contingencies, hardwork and dedication.

was talking to shaun. next step. go for the TTA crown…instead of GTR. take out ur rear seats. put on brembo GTR GT3 racing calipers. 50k types….and then hoot pirelli slicks. u will see 2:13 and then that Evo back to the cave...

Rear seats already out as allowed by regs.. brakes for now still fully capable of locking at will across 3 hot laps so won't gain major time in TA application from upgrade..

For years already, slicks have not been allowed in ZTH TTA mate!

GTR as it is, with 3 or 4 more bits, capable of taking overall win and hopefully beat Desmond's trackcar But of course he can do stuff to his car too hahah
