Active steering fails

My dad bought a new 630i less than a month ago. On Sat(19/7) active steering failed. The dashboard came up with the warning. Sent to for emergency repair and was told something was faulty with the computer. Received back the car same day. Thereafter, although there's no warning, there's a sound underneath the driver's seat whenever the steering wheel is turned. Car was towed away on Sun. As of today haven receive the car back yet. Any bros experience the same problem? Can get replacement car? Frustrated.:furious:

Re: Active steering fails

My previous E60 was 1st batch to come in with AFS. Never had a single problem with it. Sometimes its just your luck with the actual car assigned to you from a shipment.

as for temp loan car, can try make some noise and see what happens. Maybe they'll lend you one of their test cars, but at most can expect a 118, 120 or 320. But i think most likely they will just give a couple of taxi vouchers.

Re: Active steering fails

My active steering light came on the 3rd day I owned it. Went back to PML and they changed the steering sensor and reset the computer - took the whole day.

Ok after that.

Re: Active steering fails

Thanks for the inputs. I guess active steering is an intermittent problem. My dad's previous 525 did not have any issue. Strange.
