advice on engine oil low warning while driving

I just got my 2005 bmw 320i. Got this problem. Every time I drive for 20 mins on the road the engine oil low level warning comes on. But after overnight engine cool down the level is good at 3/4. Then continue druve again. The warning will come on low again at 1/4. I never top up any oil for fear of overfill.

This has been happening everyday. No leaks on floor. What could be the problem?

likely sensor fault
go to workshop to run a diagnostic

All the oil gather at the pan when engine is off so reading higher.

Just top 0.5 litre of oil.

go to a workshop and ask them to drain out the engine out to see how many litres of oil left,we should have 4.5 litres when full.if oil is still have 4 litres then the oil level sensor could be faulty, eng soon selling 100 dollars

Have this problem before. Inconsistant reading. Oil leveling sensor faulty. For mine no fault code. Drain out to measure the amount to confirm. Best is to replace during a OCI, drain out old EO, replace sensor, den pour in new EO. Cheers

Just replace the oil level sensor at the next oil change.
