Advise needed on rims and tyres

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum. Hello all.

I just got a second hand 420I coupe (2014).

Just a few questions I need some advise on:

1) Whats the average consumption of petrol for this car? How many KM per litre?

2) Initially car was running on stock 18 inch rims and non staggered. I changed to 19 inch Taiwanese rims and staggered (225/40/19 ,255/35/19). Feel FC drop a lot and draggy now. Anyone had similar experience?

3) Lastly, considering stage 1 tuning. Will it make my FC worse off? Sorry, I noob at tuning. Never tuned a car before.

Appreciate any advise from you lovely folks!

Cheers

Hi Raul,

welcome onboard..

congrats on your 420i.......average FC very much depends on your driving style ( but 2L should be able to get 450km+++ for a full tank )

after tuned sure drink more...

Thanks bro.

That means about 7.5Km to 8Km per litre ?
Thats normal for this car?

Also, confirmed after tune will be worse? I hear different things so am confused.

Noted. So the average FC is about 7 to 8 before tune?

Some told me after tune will be more efficient.. provided you don't keep whacking..

Stage 2 tuned here no real FC affected but I drive like an old man. I still average 8.2 KM /L, if you're looking for 14+km/L you've bought the wrong car here. Gotta pay to play if you know what I mean.

If you want better FC do the following.
1. Service your car, correct oil weight as per the service manual DON'T let anyone tell you otherwise. Airfilter to be cleaned or replaced for best effect. And when was the last time the Sparkplugs were replaced ?
2. Inflate tires to CORRECT pressure (its on the door sil when you open drivers door).
3. Remove all the junk in the trunk.
4. Drive around with 1/2 a tank of petrol (this is subjective)
5. Enable ECO mode on your car if it came with it.
6. Enable auto start and stop and keep it on.
7. Check and replace battery as auto start stop is HIGHLY dependent on battery state of charge.
8. Stick to the highways even if its a slightly longer distance.
9. Keep the aircon setting at 24deg (reduces load on compressor ) or drive with the windows down.
10. Fill up with the CORRECT fuel grade. Theres NO need to use v-pwr/98 whatever unless you've got a TUNED car which REQUIRES it ! Check the Fuel door label for correct grade.

Enjoy the car, the 420 can be DiY tuned with BM3 for more fun and giggles plenty of upgrade available but I will always advocate maintenance 1ST before modding !
