I don't know whether I'm slow or what ... but here is last month's evo mag (I think sold now) results:

video:
Nissan GT-R v Porsche GT3 | Planet evo | Videos | evo

GTR vs Corvette Z06: 0-100-0 : GTR wins by 0.2 seconds

GTR vs Audi R8: Country Drive: GTR wins at speed

GTR vs Porsche GT3: Bedford Autodrome track: GTR wins 1:21 to 1:22.

So if you want speed, this car is it. Mai tu liao.

I think the GTR can be faster than anything I put my hands on ever. There is SO MUCH in reserve all the time, and the chassis is so rock solid even the ultra hard R8 and Cayman seems SOFT in comparison.

But as you say, I admire the car's speed, but will always choose the lighter car with a manual transmission. Beyond doubt, coz I buy a car not for the speed but for the driving.

Honestly speaking your Maser GT is a very beautiful and seductive machine to me. If I ever weakened I would lust for it above all other cars in spite of it being a ZF TC auto. Really the MOST beautiful car in the world.

Harry Metcalfe boss of Evo just bought one beautiful blue one. Let's follow what he does, and whether he prefers it to his Pagani Zonda F. I'm almost sure he will.

How's the Maser GT experience? You haven't posted much, and it would be rewarding and poisoning to hear at the same time.

So despite all your constant championing of the GTR you will still justify your choice of Cayman........

Toto's car is not a GT.

Re: Aiyo... GTR win everything at Evo Magazine...

I still want one............... badly.

Re: Aiyo... GTR win everything at Evo Magazine...

no i dun hv a GT. i drive a manual too...but i used my fingers to shift...
GTR is probably everything and i can respect the EVO mags article. its an awesome feat at an even better price package. sadly (for me), like you, i have my preference. its not gonna b a GTR despite what it represents.

lets go back to the women analogy.....i like them real. not like vanessa the fembot...in austin powers...

Credit where credit is due. The GTR is an awesome car which tries to do it all, and it succeeds at it, at the price of lack of involvement which I can only speculate since I haven't driven it yet.

But compared to all other cars which lack involvement, the GTR is heads and shoulders above them and wins.

good analogy on the women part though before driving the GTR I hesitate to agree fully yet. Sure is involving as a passenger though.

But as for manual transmission, the main point of it is the clutch. Clutchless shifting is probably not manual transmission, I think I use the wrong term - manual is the superset, and Standard Shift is the one I really want.

Re: Aiyo... GTR win everything at Evo Magazine...

yes u like ur feel of ur hand on the ball. my interest is in the speed of shift. no doubt the GTR has the DSG gear boxes...but i hv a gti n i think thats dead....no feel..no sound..no kick. nothing like a single clutch. n i can justify by saying now...that a single clutch can be faster than a DSG......think scuderia. thats what i like to see in cars.

your need is complex. You want speed and feel. Since these are opposing needs you cannot have all that you want, so you need to strike a balance, and the F430 scuderia probably is the best compromise.

Even so, the GTR's average shifting speed (including misshift penalty) should beat the F430 Scud average shifting speed, since a correctly predicted shift is 2ms as opposed to the F430 Scud 60ms. Though Multiple sequential downshifts 6-3 for example for the GTR would probably be 500ms because of the need for additional acutation, where the F430 would only require 180ms. but in the long run, shifting of the GTR would be way faster on SIC for example since 6th gear would only be reached in 2-3 corners.

Did BK hit 6th gear at SIC ytd? Dint know that possible.

Wow.. awesome!!

dunno leh, on clarification seems like cannot hit 6th ... leisure driving can lah ... or auto mode, the car die die must reach 6th before even hitting 2.5k rpm... lol.

Re: Aiyo... GTR win everything at Evo Magazine...

Depends on the gearing but I'd think 6th gear on SIC is not needed in GTR.
I think this car is better driven with early braking...the monstrous torque and clever AWD should give you huge advantage to exit corners

Axl,
let me ask you again, when is yours coming?

Re: Aiyo... GTR win everything at Evo Magazine...

Jack: I'm pretty sure it came already... just dunno which one I will pick up in 3 years' time. ;)
