Alpine BMW Interface KCE-864B

Hey Guys,

Just upgraded my HU to the ALpine 9855. Checked the Alpine-Europe website and they mentioned that I would need the KCE-864B-R2 to retain my steering controls.
Any one knows where I might be able to get one? Has anyone tried sourcing for one? I've found a couple of places online which have it but I was told that the European version might not be compatible with our cars by my installer. Any idea if this is true?

Thanks
Jason

hi jaskin..i also have that headunit installed on my ride. i am interesting in getting back the controls for my steering. I will try to search for this with my installer. Hold ur horses!

Re: Alpine BMW Interface KCE-864B

i have managed to find a similar unit that can retrofit with the Alpine 9855. i am gonna try it tomorrow and see how it goes. My installer told me if it doesnt work, i dont have to pay anything. So i will let u guys know. He said it $150 nett. The alpine one cost abt $210 w/o installation. SO its about 100 bucks off the original one. I dont know anything abt the cost but if you guys can find anything cheaper pls post back here. Concurrently, th eproblems of the alpine one skipping to the next station instead of the next preselect station and the music skipping while forwarding, i will check on the unit i am gonna install tomorrow. I will post back here on the feedback.

Cheers.

Alamak Kenn, now i'm in hot soup !! coz i never repiled back .haha.

Anyway, im pretty sure u cant that interface here, even ask the alpine dealer here and they said no way. I got it fm a mate of mine fm London who brought it down for me while visiting S'pore. Those bloody buggers up in the UK wouldnt even freight it to S'pore, so u can imagine my frustration.

Like the previous thread Kenn posted ..read Derek's posting ..its true that the control will not allow u to fast forward or rewind, etc .not sure y tho !! Can u guys live with that ??

Re: Alpine BMW Interface KCE-864B

There is this PAC-SW device that allows you to use steering wheel control on any infra-red equiped HU. I cannot remember if it is part of the Scosche range. There is a local agent for Scosche products and I remember seeing the advertisement for this steering wheel control in a local magazine. If the product is in Singapore, it's easier to assess it's capability.

Try and contact SQ Image (distributor for Crimestopper alarm) at 6566 5253, or Desmond at 9 823 1233. #06-01 Automobile Megmart (Ubi)

Re: Alpine BMW Interface KCE-864B

Rasta, jialat lah. I keep pressing my steering controls to change my volume settings man. Not cool. Think I'm going to get a KCE-864. How many people from the previous thread are still interested?

Bros...

I am using the Alpine 9855 and have full control of my Steering Control... I am using the Scosche kit and its a blast... had it fitted abt 2 mths back and have no problems thus far... will find out more later today as I am undergoing a almost full revamp of my system... let you guys know on cost of the kit when I see my installer...

Re: Alpine BMW Interface KCE-864B

Guy looking to getting the Alpine interface can give up. The local distributor is not the least interested.

I approached them 1 year back when i got my 7998R and it took them 1 month to come back to me with some ridiculous price and told me to put a deposit before they will order. Best part of it was that the shipment is about 3 months and they won't guarantee it will arrive. I wrote to Alpine UK about purchasing off them and they have not replied my mail since.....

If the local distributor had been helpful, u will realised that Alpine do have a control cable for their headunit and use back the factory CD changer.

I think the best bet will be the Scosche kit since there r members here who have used it successfully. The other one i know it worked is from States, where a lot of ppl from the e46fanatics r using..

Re: Alpine BMW Interface KCE-864B

i am doing the scosche kit today at my installers place. I believe Jaskin is coming so anyone else want to check it out before committing is welcome to do so. I just need the damn buttons on the steering so that i can have full control.

Andy,

when u use ur steering to change ur channel for the radio, does it scan the next available station or it goes to the next PRESELECT station. Also, for CD does it skip to the next track or scans the track when you fast forward?

Thanks In Advance.

Re: Alpine BMW Interface KCE-864B

Hey Andy,

When the steering wheel is at an angle can you still use the controls? How about drilling? Any drilling required?

Re: Alpine BMW Interface KCE-864B

Piggy

Yep agree, local distributor is utterly useless, thats y i didnt wait n tried ordering online but the online store didnt wanna send to s'pore ..idiots. So got my friend fm London to get it for me. Not cheap tho, think i paid abt 50-55 pounds for it n that's with free airfrt as hand carried back to S'pore.

Re: Alpine BMW Interface KCE-864B

To keep it simple... I will address yr questions together... No drilling or whatsoever needed... It will not fast fwd songs nor skip to the next radio station...

The basic controls remain ie... volume, muting, track selection etc. Which by all means very sufficient for me...

Jas... can show you at the meetup...

Hope this helps...

Re: Alpine BMW Interface KCE-864B

55, how much did you pay for this scosche adapter? Looks like a good solution man.

Re: Alpine BMW Interface KCE-864B

Iceman...

If i recall correctly... between $150-$170 inclusive installation... and I think I sense a group buy coming up... so could be cheaper....

Re: Alpine BMW Interface KCE-864B

If someone is going down to the meetup, please post some feedback on the steering wheel controls! :)

Group buy! Group buy! Group buy! Group buy! Group buy! Group buy!
