Anyone knows Richard Paul

Recently I received an keen interest email respond on purchasing my car. He asked for a few extra photos and mentioned his client is willing to issue cheque quickly. Of course I feel funny but I "play" along and send him a few photos to see whether he respond.

This guy is Richard Paul and I am wondering anyone of you here have the same email from this guy? His email is from rediffmail.com anyone got any idea?

Re: Anyone knows Richard Paul

For a start, he's asking for photos of a car. Paul is either not in this country or he could have seen the car personally himself or he's trying to bait you to see if you're the "compliant" type. Compliant type has higher tendency of accommodating to whatever payment methods he dictates.

Issue a "Cheque" quickly ? He give you cheque you give him keys, go to the bank then "oh no..." ?

The word "Quickly" sounds like he's cashing in on your desperation for early transaction.

As for the email format, it is almost identical when I was selling my cars in Australia.

Their Modus Operandi are;

Asking for photos when photos are already available on the website.
I'm away an oceanographer, pilot, businessmen, hence not able to meet up.
Ready to pay via cheque because he's not in the country.
Buying on behalf of client, family etc.
Wants to buy ASAP.

Payment either by cheque, paypal, peanuts, ready to buy now, buying for client, buying for daughter, heard it all.

I receive on average 2 scam e-mails per month when I was selling my cars in Australia.

Some interesting reads for you. Note specifically the comments made at the bottom of the page. Notice the similarities ?

Think this can happen only in Australia ? Think again. Money coming from Australia, Afghanistan, Singapore is still money.

Re: Anyone knows Richard Paul

When I was helping my dad sell his furniture when moving house, everyday got some 2 syllable english name ang moh guy sending me emails. Either pilot, doctor, business man...all say they have means of shipping themselves etc. After awhile I didn't bother replying.

Re: Anyone knows Richard Paul

This is the email. I am not surprised many such emails are going around.

Hello,

I have a client whom is interested in buying your car,he saw the AD and is ready to issue out a Certified Bank Cheque or to pay through electronic transfer to your account? to acquire the car,so get back to me with a few more photos if you can so we discuss more on how to send you the cheque or the transfer thank you.

I had the same experience when I was trying to sell me car. A character with a VoIP number and an ang mo name.

A quick Google search of "Hertio Grande" and I got my answer.

Best to stay away and answer only emails in Singlish :)
