BlackBerry maker to launch tablet in November

TORONTO (Reuters) - Research In Motion will introduce a tablet computer in November to compete with Apple Inc's iPad, Bloomberg News reported on Friday, citing two people familiar with the company's plans.

The Waterloo, Ontario-based maker of the BlackBerry smartpnone will call the device the Blackpad, according to one of the sources.

The Blackpad is expected to have about the same dimensions as the iPad and cost about as much as the $499-plus Apple tablet, the report said.



Apple has sold more than 3 million iPads since the product's debut in April.

RIM is widely expected to unveil a revamped version of the BlackBerry on Tuesday, aiming to compete more effectively against Apple's iPhone and other advanced smartphones

Bro..Apad sold at Sim Lim running on "Enjoy" platform....= google platform i assume. They call it "Enjoy" hahaha......

Free apps from China website.... hahaha

I'm skeptical about any RIM products though, they don't seem very friendly to use. IMHO iPhone is much better, As for the Android pads, I've given up on them. They've been talking about it and I haven't seen a single decent Android 'pad' around yet. Not an Apple fanboy but I am very happy with the iPad as of now.

Yeah and the HP slate seemed to have disappeared. Same goes for the Dell Android tablet

They better come put with something significantly better n w more features. Like ability to run Microsoft Office with VGA port. Since two three years ago, I said Blackberry has passed it's usefulness. Good that they r reinventing themselves. Remember Iomega? It was an in-thing then. Remember Palm? Move up or move out.

RIM can come out with another piggy-back software to run Apple Apps (aka Apple's BootCamp), then build in the missing camera and GPS. Include a finger-print pad. Universal R/C via infrared to control my TV, hifi etc and a high efficiency solar panel.

I am going to Hong Kong in mid August. What pad should I be looking for?

I will also be going to Dongguan for a day. Can i find electronic equipment there? Or buy whatever I want in HK?

watches...can start looking for references/shops in HK to go to in forums...

dunno how is the electronics mall in Dongguan(better known for sleaze)...but you can try grabbing the android 'ipad' for 100bucks ++ just for fun...

100 bucks++ is for the very basic version of apad....not much kick, don't waste the money
go get the higher specs one but it will be more ex

Anything that'll come out now will be a "me too" product unless they can do something more revolutionary than the iPad (instead of just matching).
