Blackvue draining battery till clock always needs resetting

Installed the Blackvue HD WIFI camera on my e92 335 recently. This is set to record continuously including in parking mode overnight but has a 'gadget' that additionally cuts off power to the Blackvue if power drops to a certain level. The shop that did it say I need this so that the battery does not get fully drained off till the car cannot be restarted the next day.

Since yesterday I noticed the I-drive's and dashboard's digital clock had become "--.--.----" and prompts me to reset the clock each time I start the car in the morning.

KNN what can be done. Any hiadees experience same issue?

Had the same problem ....

Got install the magic box (voltage monitor) that cuts the power to the BV when the battery is reduced to 12v ?

Set the motion detection to maybe 5% ........ else a mosquito fly by also will wake the camera up and start filming ......

good thing the 335i knows always to reserve the last bit of electricity to start the car.

Lucky me I choose a little troublesome way to save me the bigger trouble i.e. 2x portable ultra slim battery packs (70.4 x 130.6 x 12.9 mm), to run my in-car video no need any kind of voltage monitor for any in-car cam. 1 is enough for 8 hours of continous usage, applicable as long as input volts of cam and output volts of battery is same.

eeerrr...what is this motion sensor setting of 5%. Pls elaborate. My school teacher didn't teach me when I in primary school. Anyway I failed mu Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths, and Engrand.

When you connect via wifi (iPhone ?) the BV app has a setting for motion detection. Set it to just one notch from disabled.

How old is your car battery ?

My CO sent it back to the shop that sold the BV. They did some adjustment , dunno adjust what. Now ok, clock not disturbed anymore.

However, this morning the car battery says battery very low charge. After driving for a while the battery was charged up n no issue.

Dunno is it battery not at its prime or something. how often do you guys change your battery. is there a better long lasting battery around?

As long as BV is there - it will drain until left 12v. If you replace with a battery that has a bigger AH rating then it will take longer to drain to 12v left so will last longer.

Personally I 3 days then drive one time and on top of that drive only for 20 minutes so often low battery. I have a new 80ah battery.

Did you check your parking mode recording ? Is it recording all the time or only when something happen ? Need to calibrate sensitivity if its recording all the time ...... Can help conserve battery life if calibrated appropriately ......

Hmm...anyone know who can setup a dual SLA battery setup? Dedicated battery just for the camera....but car muz charge both batt when driven.

You can go have a talk with Ro***y at R*D. He had done this before by getting a motorcycle size battery and piggyback with the main battery. So meaning ur BV is solely running on this small size battery and when charging it charges both at the same time...
