Hi all,

I just touched down in Munich this morning and of course, the first geeky thing I would do, instead of going out for a beer is to update you guys on what's happening.

I'm actually here for the BMW M Power Experience 2009 (link for more information) from the 28th August to the 30th of Oct and we'll be experiencing the new BMW X5 M, X6 M, M3, M5, M6 at Salzburgring Race Track. I'm here with a couple of great folks from BMW Asia, and I've already met up with a couple of guys from the BMW M GmbH group at the Munich Airport earlier.

Earlier I was thinking to do this as a single post while the entire trip is over, though it might be more fun if it was on a daily basis while my memories are still fresh... and it's an experience to share

Here goes...

DAY 1 - 27th October 2009.

Flying to Frankfurt via Lufthansa.

Spotted this gorgeous Jaguar E-Type 4.2l Coupe as a prize giveaway in Frankfurt. What a beauty. God i want one.

On the transit flight to Munich....

We flew by and got a really beautiful view of the swiss Alps. Man they looked beautiful even from a distance.

Touched down at Munich Airport and you get the realization that BMW has really done quite a bit of their work here.

While picking up our luggage, you have all the various BMW Monitors set up, showing you a tradition of all of their models and upcoming ones. For once, it was nice to wait for luggage.

Also spotted the world's largest BMW kidney grills. Sweet. I failed to spot any form of radiator but...nevermind.

Exiting the airport and spotted this urhm Taxi. I've been to Leipzig, Hamburg & Cologne before but never seen them there. Wonder if they're diesel powered though.

The weather is a bit cool. Only 1 deg.

Nah, it was actually 11 deg.

And over the distance..looms the first BMW building! But i think it was a Finance related building or something.

Just reached the ol' Bavarian town of Munich..

and checked in....

Today's a free day so I'll be checking out this part of town.

Hey Ryan, any chance you going on the plant tour in Munich or Regensburg?

Marienplatz is nice, Ratskeller has great pork knuckles beer~
if you are interested, SIXT has some good BMW rentals for short trips to Neuschwanstein, Eagle's Nest, Salzburg...all within 2hrs drive.

Cool beans! Just came back from Marienplatz and 2 hour + city tour bus sightseeing. The place is beautiful. SIXT sounds like a good idea but im checking out of the hotel by 9am tomorrow to head over to Salzburgring for the actual gig.

I got some free time on my last day, will see whether i can rent a nice one to drive out.

Day 2 - 28th October 2008.

All setting to move out.

The Munich hotel we stayed in.

A touring bike by an explorer which went around the world. Apparently for a million miles over a period of 12 years.He gave the bike back to BMW and had a new 1200 Touring in return. Not bad a deal i say.

I seriously had goosebumps seeing so many in 1 place.

Then i spotted something yellow.

Then i spotted gold.

The awesome engine bay of the MLF1.

Shows you how hardcore they were.

Vintage BMWs with a stories to tell. These derelicts were found in barnyards or from really old owners who wanted to pass them back to BMW.

This BMW had a very unique story. Owner escaped being killed from Rome in the war, if i recall correctly, and drove it across countries and then kept it in a barn for 30 years before returning it to BMW.

There is a dedicated workshop for super vintage BMWs. BMW's commitment is amazing to this and they will cater for a BMW to run regardless of it's age. If a vintage car has run out of parts, they will manufacture it.

Such a non-descript building..hiding a wealth of history.

Leaving the classics repository, we head along nearby a building and...... hey.. this looks familiar!

And we have reached the BMW Welt!

Genius of an architecture building. It is simply AMAZING to be standing there.

The '4 Cylinder' BMW HQ.

Wonderful curves of the Welt.

BMW X1 looking really good.

The new BMW Vision car was on display! Amazing to see this in real life right in front of you.

It looked absolutely stunning.

Very nifty AV radio talkie so our guide-host, Mr. Horst could show us around the Welt.

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooo.... going to be driving this awesome car in the next 2 days. WOOT. The BMW X6 M.

It is a piece of art.

Showing how the nuclear reactors...no, actually the ground breaking ceremony of the BMW Welt.

The first block which was laid.

The delivery area where new customers could come collect their cars. Their cars would be rotated around on a spindle and customers can drive it off with a great experience.

You can try on motorbikes at the Welt. Get on, get off. Easy.

The Welt can deliver up to 250 cars a day to customers.

A happy customer collecting his ride.

Z plates means custom plates. I.e. Customers from countries outside of Europe, can collect their cars, go for a holiday within Europe (LHD BMWs only), come back to the Welt and then have BMW ship the car back to them (in the USA for example).

BMW X6 M for delivery

Kids area.

Kids can build their own BMWs on their own factory line. Sweet!!

BMW Hydrogen Engine showcase.

The BMW 5 GT looks actually VERY good in person.

The white halos make it look even more aggressive. I like it.

Technology showcases for the BMW Dynamic drive and interactive platforms to learn about BMW tech.

HUD display.

Guide took us down a secret area where they showed us how cars were delivered to customers through a very sophisticated underground car park management system.

First they drive the cars to a designated section......

Then magic happens.

And amazing, the screen pops up, showing us what ACTUALLY happens.

Cars are stored and shifted effortlessly for same-day deliveries to customers.

Oxygen levels is actually decreased to prevent any form of fire outbreak as cars are already fueled in here.

Choice of interior leather.

Emphasis of comfort.
