BMW Driver Training

I emailed BMW about their driver training about a month ago. But i still have not received a response. Has anyone gone for it and is it any good/fun/worth spending so much?

I saw the website awhile back that the course is held in malaysia and it is a 2 day thing so must stay 1 night in malaysia. and that would be around 2500. and the cars they have to offer are the 125i and 325i

Then i saw that bmw australia has the same program coming up for 1400AUD but it is only from 8am-5pm. but the difference is they have an m3 to try as well.

I'm tempted to the the australian one, only because of the M3. But i was thinking it would be more convenient to go home and do it. But that's only if they bother to contact me. :S

From what I know, PML conducts 2 kinds of driver training - Advance Driver Training (ADT) and Intensive Driver Training (IDT). The Advance Driver Training is one full day whilst the Intensive Driver Training is over the weekend with a one night stay at the Hyatt Johore (that's where I stayed when I did IDT). Both are conducted in Pasir Gudang, Johore. I believe they have increased the price quite significantly for both courses.

Both courses were fun and you would do things in their cars that you probably would do in your own including reverse flick....

Highly recommended....

The ADT conducted in Australia uses ///M cars and are definitely worth the trip. As far as I know, all ADTs have been conducted on Philip Island in Victoria.

There are probably about 7-10 (if I recall correctly) E92,E90 M3s in their stables that are religiously maintained.

Just a couple of weeks ago I received an email from Autoclassic (Perth's PML Equivalent), they are launching their BMW M Dynamic and IDT courses in Western Australia. No details were given on the cars being used but if you're keen I can forward you that email. Autoclassic's M3s are amongst the nation's lowest optioned vehicle compared to any other dealership hence I'm not sure if they will be using the M cars. Although if funding comes from head office, this would be quite different.

I strongly encourage the long flight time to Victoria as Philip Island is a great track. In Perth, Barbagallo Raceway is smaller and less scenic. Although no one really cares if you're behind the wheels of a M3.

thanks a lot ac schnitzer! Maybe you can forward to me the email? I contacted Singapore for the dates for the ADT but they say they havent confirmed the dates yet and the one in perth only has the IDT scheduled for 1st of Nov and ADT only happens once a year in perth.
I don't mind doing the IDT. But i want to do the ADT first before i go to the IDT.
Maybe i will go to melbourne for the MDT. but i'm not rolling in an M vehicle so i don't know if they would allow.

I did ADT a few years ago with the wife (then girlfriend). We both had fun but the highlight was the at the end of the day when the instructors take you out for a hot lap around PG. That was the first time i experienced track driving at high speed at the limit of traction and really got me interested in the sport.

I always planned on doing the IDT but never got around to it. Australia would probably be the place to do it because my guess is the instructors would be better.

I just did the Advance Driving Training (ADT) over at Pasir Gudang last Sunday.


Personally, I feel that the ADT was quite well-worth the money paid for.

I'm surprised that they are using brand new E90 325i with Goodyear tyres for participants to practice on. Course was conducted in a safe environment, coupled with real-time guidance from the instructors.

Most importantly, the course highlighted many important driving habits/factors, which us as drivers neglect in our day-to-day driving. It also allow us to understand and fully-utilized the functions of our car in the many different situations we meet on the road everyday.

I heard from the instructors that the Intensive Driving Training (IDT) will be held on December this year :D

This is what I am considering, should i do the ADT first, or should I just go ahead and do the IDT without doing the ADT.
Everyone tells me it's really fun and all but I want to go through the steps before doing the IDT.

need ADT certificate to enroll in IDT.

i did ADT in 2007, i think $500 or $800, they used brand new PS2 tyres and e90 330i.

i did IDT in 2007 too,i think $1500 or $2000,they used brand new PS2 tyres and e90 330i too.

now prices went up sharply and no more PS2 and 330i ?

the instructors were very friendly,enthusiastic and passionate on their job.
my guess is they are unpaid volunteers from PML.
